to be a community of disciples of Christ that,
guided by the Holy Spirit, brings God's transforming
love to the world.

The Context and Character of Our Mission |
|
We live and act in communion with the universal Catholic Church and with the
Church of Washington under the leadership of its Archbishop. We strive to
implement the vision of the
Second Vatican Council and to foster close and effective collaboration between
the members of the parish community, be they lay, religious, or
clergy. |
|
Worship |
Our corporate worship is the heart of the parish, the center of our life, our
first school of
spirituality, and the source from which our power flows. We strive
for active
participation by all in the celebration of the liturgy. |
|
Spiritual Growth and Development |
In addition to our corporate worship, we offer guidance in individual prayer and opportunities for
spiritual retreats, following the Jesuit tradition of St. Ignatius Loyola. |
|
Community Life |
We strive to nurture a
strong, open and inclusive community whose members are light and hope to one
another. We reach out to the larger communities of our city and world,
particularly to the members of our two sister parishes and to other faith
communities. |
|
Lifelong Education in the Faith |
We provide religious
education to youth and adults,
exploring our faith’s response to issues of the
day through respectful dialogue. The education of the young as disciples
of
Christ, especially through Holy
Trinity
School,
is central to our
mission. |
|
Service |
We reach out to the needy, near and far, through personal service, tithing of ordinary parish income
and engagement with our sister parishes in Washington and El
Salvador. We strive
to stand in solidarity with the poor and to work for justice and
peace.
