THE CREED:  What Christians Believe And Why It Matters
by Luke Timothy Johnson
February 15, 2005

At every Sunday liturgy we stand together to recite the Creed.  It functions as a kind of “ABC’ of what it means to be a Christian and it links us to our two thousand year tradition of faith in Jesus.  In THE CREED New Testament scholar and Catholic theologian, Luke Timothy Johnson helps us to reflect on our faith as he explains its evolution from the first decades of the Christian church to the present day.  The same questions that gave rise to the Creed in the early days now repeat themselves:  Who is God?  What is God like?  Who is Jesus?  How does he live today?  What is the Spirit all about?  What has all this to do with me and my life?

THE CREED is available in paperback (Doubleday).
