In order to connect the Year of Prayer at the Eucharist to all aspects of parish life, we are providing a monthly prayer to be used at meetings. This is for any committee meeting, any group meeting or any project which is taking place at the parish. This prayer will change monthly to follow the "themes" of our Year of Prayer at the Eucharist.

Leader:In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Leader reads the opening:We open our prayer today with a few words from the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, the Church document which tells us all about the celebration of the Mass:
“In the celebration of the Mass, in which the Sacrifice of the Cross is perpetuated, Christ is really present in the liturgical assembly gathered in Christ’s name, in the person of the minister, in the Word of God, and indeed substantially and continuously under the Eucharistic species.”
This month we continue our parish Year of Prayer at the Eucharist. We are spending time in prayer before meetings reflecting on the texts of the Mass. This month’s theme is “The Presence of Christ in the Eucharist”.
We are being asked to reflect on “Who are we as the assembly which has gathered together, and how is Christ present in this celebration?”
Please listen now to a short reading for reflection.
Another member of the group reads the following:This reading is from the Gospel according to St. Matthew: (Chapter18: 19-20)
Jesus said: “Again I tell you, if two of you join your voices on earth to pray for anything whatever, it shall be granted you by my Father in heaven. Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in their midst.” The
Gospel of the Lord. Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ.
All Pause for two minutes of reflection on this reading and the following question:Do I feel that Christ is present in our Sunday assemblies, in the Word, in the minister and especially in the Body and Blood?
Do I carry that presence of Christ with me when I leave Church on Sunday? To my family, friends, coworkers?
After the reflection time, ALL pray together:
|
Lord Jesus Christ, living bread come down from heaven,
in the Eucharist you give us the gift of yourself.
As we give you praise and thanks for this gift,
help us walk as your faithful pilgrims.
Just as the disciples did in the Gospel,
we implore you, O Lord, teach us to pray!
May our prayer at the Eucharist lift our hearts to you.
May our lives be transformed by this great gift
so that we may become the people you call us to be.
Give us your special grace as we celebrate
this Year of Prayer at the Eucharist, and grant us your peace,
we pray through your most holy name. Amen.
