Lives Transformed by Christ: The Year of Prayer at the Eucharist
In order to connect the Year of Prayer at the Eucharist to all aspects of parish life, we are providing a monthly prayer to be used at meetings.  This is for any committee meeting, any group meeting or any project which is taking place at the parish.  This prayer will change monthly to follow the "themes" of our Year of Prayer at the Eucharist.
Monthly Prayers 2006 – 2007

Leader:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
Leader reads the opening:
We open our prayer today with a few words from the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, which is the document on Liturgy from the Second Vatican Council.

“The liturgy is the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; at the same time it is the fount from which all the Church’s power flows.  For the aim and object of apostolic works is that all who are made children of God by faith and baptism should come together to praise God in the midst of his Church, to take part in the sacrifice, and to eat the Lord’s Supper.”  (#10)

This month we continue our parish Year of Prayer at the Eucharist.  This month’s theme is “The actions of the assembly:  What it all means.”  Please listen now to a short reading for reflection.

Another member of the group reads the following:
This reading is from the Acts of the Apostles  (3: 42, 46-47):

[The Disciples] devoted themselves to the apostles’ instruction and the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and the prayer.  They went to the temple area together every day, while in their homes they broke bread.  With exultant and sincere hearts they took their meals in common, praising God and winning the approval of all the people.

All Pause for two minutes of reflection on this reading and the following questions:
How is my participation at Mass?
Do I do all I can to make it important?
Do I encourage others to participate at Mass?
Have I taken time to learn more about the Mass during our Year of Prayer at the Eucharist?
After the reflection time, ALL pray together:
Lord Jesus Christ, living bread come down from heaven,
in the Eucharist you give us the gift of yourself.
As we give you praise and thanks for this gift,
help us walk as your faithful pilgrims.

Just as the disciples did in the Gospel,
we implore you, O Lord, teach us to pray!

May our prayer at the Eucharist lift our hearts to you.
May our lives be transformed by this great gift
so that we may become the people you call us to be.

Give us your special graceas we celebrate this Year of Prayer at the Eucharist
and grant us your peace, we pray through your most holy name. Amen.
