In order to connect the Year of Prayer at the Eucharist to all aspects of parish life, we are providing a monthly prayer to be used at meetings. This is for any committee meeting, any group meeting or any project which is taking place at the parish. This prayer will change monthly to follow the "themes" of our Year of Prayer at the Eucharist.

Leader:In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Leader reads the opening:We open our prayer today with a few words from liturgist and canon lawyer, Sr. Ann Rehrauer. (Excerpt from Eucharist as Formation for Mission)
“Each time we celebrate the Eucharist, we are a changed community. Each time we enter into the mystery of the dying and the rising of the Lord, we do so with different levels of faith and devotion. Each time we come to offer our praise and thanks, we bring other parts of our lives to offer with Christ to the Father. And hopefully, each time we come, we surrender more of our will and become more open to God’s will for us.”
This month’s Year of Prayer at the Eucharist theme is “The Paschal Mystery: Transformation in Christ”. Please listen now to a short reading for reflection.
Another member of the group reads the following:This reading is from the letter to the Colossians (3: 1-4):
Since you have been raised up in company with Christ, set your heart on what pertains to higher realms where Christ is seated at God’s right hand. Be intent on things above rather than on things of earth. After all, you have died! Your life is hidden now with Christ in God. When Christ our life appears, then you shall appear with him in glory.
All Pause for two minutes of reflection on this reading and
the following questions:
The Paschal Mystery is the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ. In the Eucharist, we are transformed to new life in Christ. How is my life different because of this?
Christ calls us to conversion. How does my prayer at the Eucharist lead to conversion? How can my participation make this better? How do I live this during the week?
After the reflection time, ALL pray together:
|
Lord Jesus Christ, living bread come down from heaven,
in the Eucharist you give us the gift of yourself.
As we give you praise and thanks for this gift,
help us walk as your faithful pilgrims.
Just as the disciples did in the Gospel,
we implore you, O Lord, teach us to pray!
May our prayer at the Eucharist lift our hearts to you.
May our lives be transformed by this great gift
so that we may become the people you call us to be.
Give us your special grace as we celebrate this Year of Prayer at the Eucharist
and grant us your peace,
we pray through your most holy name. Amen.
