In order to connect the Year of Prayer at the Eucharist to all aspects of parish life, we are providing a monthly prayer to be used at meetings. This is for any committee meeting, any group meeting or any project which is taking place at the parish. This prayer will change monthly to follow the "themes" of our Year of Prayer at the Eucharist.

Leader:In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Leader reads the opening:We open our prayer today with words from Pope John Paul II:
“As the day of resurrection, Sunday is not only the remembrance of a past event: It is a celebration of the living presence of the Risen Lord in the midst of God’s own people.”
This month we bring to a close our parish Year of Prayer at the Eucharist. Each month we have spent time in prayer and reflection on various liturgical topics. This final theme is the same as where we began: “Love and Serve the Lord”. We are being asked to reflect on “Why we go to Mass, and what difference does it make in our lives?”
Please listen now to a short reading for reflection.
Another member of the group reads the following:This reading is from the writings of St. Augustine:
If you are the body of Christ and its members, your mystery has been placed on the Lord’s table, you receive your mystery. You reply “Amen” to that which you are, and by replying, you consent. For you hear “The body of Christ,” and you reply “Amen.” Be a member of the body of Christ so that your “Amen” may be true.
All Pause for two minutes of reflection on this reading and
the following questions:
How are we the Body of Christ for others, when we leave Mass on Sunday?
How does my prayer at the Eucharist help me to live differently outside of Church?
After the reflection time, ALL pray together:
|
Lord Jesus Christ, living bread come down from heaven,
in the Eucharist you give us the gift of yourself.
As we give you praise and thanks for this gift,
help us walk as your faithful pilgrims.
Just as the disciples did in the Gospel,
we implore you, O Lord,
teach us to pray!
May our prayer at the Eucharist
lift our hearts to you.
May our lives be transformed by this great gift
so that we may become the people you call us to be.
Give us your special grace
as we celebrate this Year of Prayer at the Eucharist
and grant us your peace,
we pray through your most holy name. Amen.
