Our Homebound Ministry volunteers bring
the Eucharist to parishioners who are unable to attend Mass. In bringing the Eucharist to our homebound parishioners, we
are also telling them that they are still part of our Parish
community, and that the rest of the Community is one with them,
and is praying for them.
Some of the related activities held during the last three
years have included: occasional meetings for planning, spiritual
renewal, presentations of special interest by health care
professionals, representatives from IONA House and Hospice. This past year, we have had prayerful reflection on our ministry
and a social evening.
If you would like to volunteer for this Ministry, and are
not already a Eucharistic Minister, you are required to do
about 2 hours of Eucharistic Minister training. No special
skills or talents are required but a special concern for
the sick and a desire to bring comfort to the lonely and
anxious are beneficial. It is important to spend some time
with the person, and not rush the visit. Being a good listener
is also very helpful.
