Frequently Asked Questions

Annual Pledge Program What is the basis of the Annual Pledge? When we make the decision to join Holy Trinity, we take responsibility for contributing to the life and mission of this faith community. The Annual Pledge is based on the spiritual principles of stewardship and on the teaching of Jesus. Namely, all that we have and all that we are comes from God.

As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace." 1 Peter 4:10

What amount of money should I pledge? The amount of money you pledge each year is your decision, based on your situation. We ask that you first reflect on the importance of Holy Trinity in your life. Then, make your pledge accordingly, so that it’s part of your annual budget just like other items in your life.

How do I make my annual pledge? Simply fill out your Annual Pledge Form indicating what you will give the parish for the year, then return it. Father Horak will acknowledge your pledge.

When do I begin paying my pledge? You can begin paying your Annual Pledge at any time. It is up to you how often you make payments. Some parishioners pay once a year, others pay weekly or monthly. The parish office will send you a quarterly statement with a record of your contributions to date. You will also receive an end of the year statement which serves as your receipt for Federal and State tax returns.

Can I pay my pledge with a credit card? Yes. We have made it easy for you to use your VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express by clicking on our on-line giving link and following the prompts.  If you have a computer banking program, you can arrange with your financial institution to send your contribution directly to Holy Trinity.

Can I give stock to cover my pledge? How do I do this? Transfering stock directly to Merrill Lynch is an easy alternative for fulfilling your pledge and possibly gaining a tax advantage.  Shares should be sent directly to:

Merrill Lynch
DTC 5198
To the Further Credit of Holy Trintiy Church
Account #440-04102
Attn:  Mr. Paul Sweeney, Jr.
202-659-7328

Please be sure to notify Mary Lynch of the stock transfer.  Further information or questions should be directed to Mary at 202-337-2840 ext. 147 or email: mlynch@holytrinitydc.org.

Why do we continue to pass the basket at Mass? Many pledgers appreciate the convenience of placing their payments in the collection basket.  Non-pledging parishioners and visitors are also afforded the opportunity to make offertory contributions.
